Don’t Judge a
Book by Its Cover
Answer:
Many times, you might have heard, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’. If
you see the phrase, you will realise that
it has a deep meaning. A book with a very attractive cover may not have worth
material inside. On the other hand, a book with a very dull cover may be very
interesting. It means that we must not underestimate anyone based on his or her
look. In fact, the deeds and characters of the person matter the most. Everything
in life that appears to be attractive does not necessarily have a great value.
There are many reasons why we must never judge a book by its cover. This
first one is that you know nothing about someone just by their outward
appearance. It would never show someone’s correct character. A show that is
well advertised may be dull and boring; while a show that has received very
little publicity may be quite entertaining. Gandhiji wore just a dhoti, but he is still famous
throughout the world. Abraham Lincoln had not a good-looking face but he is
considered as one of the greatest American Presidents due to his inner
qualities. Mother Teresa had a very simple appearance but people all over the
world remember and respect her.
Sometimes, a wicked person may appear to be a gentle-person if he
behaves well, wears a proper set of dress, and speaks with etiquettes. Taking
advantage of this deceptive appearance, such person tries to cheat other
people.
So,
we must never judge a book by its cover as looks may be deceptive. It is wrong
to form opinions solely on the basis of seeing the surface. We should take a
deeper look to understand what the reality is. It will help us to form proper
and correct opinion.
